Transport For Wales 'Citylink' Class 398s Enter Service

Earlier this morning, unit 398028 ran the first TfW service hauled by the Stadler-built Class 398. The service was 2B06 06:55 Pontypridd - Cardiff Bay. The service was ran partly on the Rhonnda Line however is also shared by the Merthyr Line, Aberdare Line, and partly the Coryton Line. 

What is a Class 398?
The Class 398s began production in 2020 at Stadler Rail's Valenca Spain facility, 38 units have been built specifically for Transport for Wales to replace their ageing Class 150 & Class 153 DMU 'Sprinters on the Core Valley Lines'. These new 398s run in 3 car formations and have a capacity for around 250 people sitting and standing.
