Paignton Station Footbridge On Fire

Paignton Station Footbridge On Fire

There have been confirmed reports that the footbridge at Paignton station has caught fire, from our current understanding no one is hurt or critically injured, however GWR have confirmed that inbound and outbound services will be cancelled or disrupted until at least 2PM today.

The fire was put out at around 6AM this morning however a cause and other information are still being researched.

We will provide further information when we have it.

UPDATE 1 - 21/07/2026 (19:10)
We have seen reports that the station is unlikely to reopen today and should reopen sometime tommorow, despite damage to other sections of the station.

UPDATE 2 - 22/07/2026 (13:15)
This was confirmed by local police to be an arson attack, 3 teens have currently been let out on conditional bail until further questioning.
